Delicious Classic Cake Recipe: Simple White Cake with Vanilla Extract

To start, you will need the following ingredients: three cups of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, one-half teaspoon of salt, one cup of butter (at room temperature), one and a half cups of granulated sugar, four large eggs (at room temperature), one cup of milk (at room temperature) and two teaspoons of pure vanilla extract.

Once you have all of your ingredients gathered, you can begin to make your cake. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two (9-inch) round cake pans and line the bottoms with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until fully combined. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in thirds and alternate with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients and mixing until fully incorporated. Finally, stir in the vanilla extract.

Divide the batter evenly between the two pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Once done, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 15 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, you can frost your cake as desired.
