To make this simple white cake, you’ll need:

• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 3 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 2 tablespoons of butter

Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix well. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
