To make this classic cake recipe, you will need:

– 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons of baking powder
– ½ teaspoon of salt
– 1 cup of butter (at room temperature)
– 1 ½ cups of white sugar
– 4 eggs
– 1 cup of milk
– 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Alternate adding the flour mixture and the milk to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
