– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 4 large eggs, at room temperature
– 1 cup whole milk

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and greasing and flouring two 8-inch round cake pans.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and set aside.
Using an electric mixer, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Beat until all ingredients are well blended.
