Ingredients
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
• 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
• 4 large eggs
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup milk
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
2. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt into a medium bowl and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
5. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
6. Add the dry ingredients and the milk, alternating between the two, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
7. Divide the batter evenly between the two pans and spread out evenly.
8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
